It has been a long year of “family togetherness,” so we were very excited to see all the outdoor activities that were happening around us on a snowy afternoon. Glenwood houses a free winter wonderland of fun! This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised by this JT find. The laughter on the hills was contagious, and families were making the best of a wintery day.
Possible Activities: sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, anything snow, photography, bird watching, restaurant

Sprague Brook County Park – Glenwood

Camping is available May-October (call for details)
Sprague Brook County Park has miles and miles of trails and is open in winter from 7am-dusk for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, photography, bird watching and outdoor picnics. Ok, one group may or may not have been enjoying Bloody Marys instead of a picnic lunch, and we were a tad bit jealous of the celery stalks, but either way they were having a blast. Anyway, there are trails everywhere and the scenery is breathtaking. This place is huge and even though we saw many cars, we felt as if we were all alone. It was perfect.

After the early birds enjoy the trails, the sledding hills and snowmobiling trails open up at 10am. There is a restroom close to the sledding hill and this area is perfect for families and those who want to use the public grill for their lunch. We saw three families enjoying this kind of fun, and seriously, those kids were pretty darn cute! (The Casino is closed due to Covid-19, but the restrooms are open.)

Taking the drive to this park and spending a few hours enjoying the beautiful WNY weather in winter was worth it, but all that activity made for a hungry JT. Since we did not pack for a picnic, we headed down the road to find him some wings.
Last Run Tavern & Grill – Glenwood

Last Run definitely pulls off the tavern feel with a long wooden bar and a cozy, just-left-the-slopes atmosphere. It also seems to be a local favorite. We loved it!

The bar has seven taps that support NY brewers, a small dining area, and five TV screens so anyone can see the game. If you are really hungry after your outdoor fun, the burgers are ½ pound. Yep, you read that right; they are huge! The also have delicious fries, a few gluten-free options, and a Sunday brunch option.
The staff were great and the conversation around the bar was very fun, especially since we all loved that 101-yard punt return. Cheers! You can tell from our Box Score that this was a great first visit; we’ll be back!
