For those of you who may not know, two new (ish) places are hopping in Clarence. One of them carries a fun ethnic menu and the other has literally changed direction.
Morluski’s – Clarence Hollow, NY
Popping up in 2020, and doing its best to ride the waves of shut-downs and regulations, Morluski’s is now up and running!
The former church building has been renovated and the inside is tastefully decorated with a bit of unique flair. Everyone connects flamingos with stained glass windows, right? OK, maybe not. But, honestly, it works here!
The open space and tall ceilings give an outdoor feel and just generates joy. They have a dining area, bar area, and a lounge upstairs where you might be lucky enough to see where the LIVE music is coming from. The Pilafs and friends had a great night!
The owner focuses on her family history and has both a Polish and Italian menu. They include both traditional and unique items, including Pickle Soup. Yep, we’re serious!
Pickle Soup! Having never experienced this taste before, Dra will openly admit she told the server that the title alone was “slightly terrifying.” This comment prompted her to bring a small sample. Scrunching her face and closing her eyes, Dra gave the soup a shot… oh, my! It was wonderful! Do yourself a favor; don’t fear the title. Try the soup!
Our table also ordered Stuffed Cabbage, Chicken Parmigiana and the Pole Plate – a fabulous sampling of several Polish favorites. All dinners, including the bread and salad for the table were delicious!
Morluski’s is a wonderful experience. You should go there! Following our fabulous dinner, we headed down Main Street to take a chance on some LIVE music; we were not disappointed!
Penny Lane Clarence – (New Owners) – Clarence, NY
The Pilafs had no idea, but they stepped into Penny Lane on its Grand Opening Night. Under new management, we were pleased they had one last table in the back. We have missed LIVE music so much and we enjoyed our first-time hearing Garden Party. They harmonize really well and played songs we all enjoy. People were happy and spirits were lifted by the sound.
New owners, Simon and Brianne, are super friendly and so proud of the changes they have made. They had family working throughout on this opening to make sure everything ran smoothly.
Having been to Penny Lane many times under the former owner, we can say “well done” to this new look. The new owners have done an excellent job at honoring the legacy of the original place yet adding a sleek new style. The bar is beautiful and the stage used for LIVE music has been moved to the other side of the building. It’s a completely different look, adds space and provides a perfect view of the show from anywhere in the building.
We didn’t have the chance to ask about possible changes from the former menu, but will say the GF pizza was a hit with our son later that night. (We bought some to-go.)
