There are so many places to hike in WNY, and this weekend the Pilafs + daughter headed out to find a couple family friendly adventures. The beautiful weather this weekend did not disappoint, and we were able to spend time in one park in the morning and a second in the afternoon.

Akron Falls Park

Akron Falls Park is a wonderful family-friendly park. The trails are perfect for walking, running and biking, and it was so fun seeing people of all ages enjoying the area.
A photographer’s dream, there are many opportunities to take photos of animals, birds, plants and beautiful scenery.
You can’t visit Akron Park without seeing the waterfall. It is beautiful! And don’t be afraid to drop a line in the creek.

The park has picnic tables, shelters and places for kids to play. It has a basketball court and two tennis courts. The park is open year round, and don’t forget to look for the Rock Garden.

Iroquois National Wildlife

Since WNY is filled with 4 fantastic seasons, it’s a great idea to visit our parks in all 4 seasons. Pilafs wrote up this hiking area in winter, but decided to give it a try this spring as well. Taking a different path this time, we loved experiencing a forest-filled walkway filled with nature and wildlife.

Also a perfect place to take photos, the area is loaded with birds, ducks, water animals and scenery. On weekends in March and April there are areas set up to watch the eagle nest. We got to see the momma feeding her little ones. Thank you to the rangers!
