Tribute to the Tralf

This blog’s intent is to give you ideas for getting out and supporting WNY and its amazing people. Today, however, we’d like to pay tribute to the Tralf Music Hall for decades of support to the arts in Buffalo. This unique concert club experience is one we are glad we didn’t miss, and we are saddened this icon is closing.

Friday evening, the Pilafs headed over to the Tralf to enjoy one of the hundreds of great local cover bands who have graced their stage. Knowing it was our last concert there was a bit heavy on the heart, but once the show began, it was a fabulous night!

Strictly Hip 2021

Strictly Hip put on a great show and the musicians were fantastic. It was so refreshing to finally see a full band LIVE! Great show; great night – except the annoying table next to us who yapped, squealed, giggled and flirted throughout the entire show. They were annoying. Even if you turned on your flash and took photo after photo of them, trying annoy them into actually watching the show, it wouldn’t work. Wait! Did I try that?!

Thank you to the Tralf for its many years of shows. Although the Pilafs were not present for Prince or BB King years ago, we can appreciate the magnitude of having these great artists on that stage.

The Pilafs have enjoyed many locals and visitors to Buffalo over the years, including Wild Knights, Sonic Garden, every other Grateful Dead cover band that performed there, Town Pants, Fish (from Marillion), Trampled by Turtles, Tea Leaf Green, Sons of Bill, River Whyless, Horse Feathers, Strictly Hip, and as many blues bands as possible.

Thank you to the Tralf owners and both past and present staff who gave us a chance to rock out and sing along in this intimate setting for so many years. Here’s hoping you find a new venue and new beginning while keeping the legacy you created.

What a long, strange trip its been!

Just curious… who have you seen on this famous stage?

Enjoy WNY. Support local.
