Hike, Play and Eat at the Outer Harbor

If you haven’t been to the Outer Harbor, it’s time to visit this beautiful area. It is a hidden gem with a fantastic view and pile of creativity. Great job city planners!

Throughout the entire area are paved and dirt pathways for hiking and biking. Hikers, runners, bikers, families and dogs alike can enjoy this extensive area along beautiful Lake Erie. If you’d like to bike and you left yours at home, rentals are available.

Speaking of rentals, you can also rent small boats to enjoy in the harbor area. There is a kayak/canoe launch for those who like to enjoy a paddle.

Just off to the right of the main area is a pathway to a wildlife protected area, especially birds. Grab your camera and catch your favorite photo!

The main area includes a playground for kids of all ages and a beach for those who love to read in the sun (no swimming allowed). Also note there are restrooms available in this area as well.

After you have hiked and played, stop over to the Beer Garden and Food Truck for a great meal. The staff are all really kind and very proud of their offerings. There is a spot to eat up high and tables down on the ground for those who don’t do stairs.

The Pilafs give Home Runs to both the Rice Bowls and Burgers. We also enjoyed craft beers and wine with friends.

There are some sections of this area that are under construction due to the last nasty storm, but there is still a lot to do and many areas to walk/hike and enjoy.

Visit this great area in WNY and support local!
