The Pilafs headed down to Canalside in downtown Buffalo to check out what is happening by the water this summer. We ventured into several fun history lessons and were humbled by a traveling exhibit that came to NY for the first time. The walkway along the water is lined with gardens that are very wellContinue reading “History and Humility at Canalside”

KenTon Garden Walk This Weekend!
I was given a preview today of a few beautiful gardens that are participating in the KenTon Garden Walk this weekend. These are some serious artists! The creativity is amazing and I am amazed at how hard each gardener works to create their personal vision. Check out this 3-D wall! I also saw one whoContinue reading “KenTon Garden Walk This Weekend!”
Get Your WNY HIKE On!
Here is a six month Pilaf recap in case you missed any of our outdoor blogs/reviews. Some are under a strange URL and some we visited twice, but we did our best to get it right below. It’s beautiful in WNY. Get outside! You’ll be glad you did! Akron Falls Park: https://circlingthebases.com/2021/04/12/akron-falls-park/ Amherst State ParkContinue reading “Get Your WNY HIKE On!”
Amherst Park is Dog and Family Friendly
The Pilafs love to venture over to Glen Park (just off Main Street in Williamsville) when in need of a sense of peace. The waterfall there just brings it on! What we didn’t know, however, is there is a wonderful hiking area just behind it. Amherst State Park is 80 acres and beautifully taken careContinue reading “Amherst Park is Dog and Family Friendly”
Family Fun at Tifft
The Pilafs started to hike in the rain at Tifft Nature Preserve and were glad the sun eventually took over. The wildlife was out in full force and there were families, friends, photographers and bird watchers having a great time. Tifft is just south of the city of Buffalo, across from the Buffalo Harbor. ItContinue reading “Family Fun at Tifft”
Hiking Throughout Beaver Island
The Pilafs will admit they’ve really only utilized the kayak launch and the picnic area near it at Beaver Island. So our most recent visit was a pleasant surprise. There are trails all over! Who knew? We first headed to the area we are familiar with and saw many people fishing and canoeing near theContinue reading “Hiking Throughout Beaver Island”
Dog Friendly, But Don’t Wear Flip-Flops!
The Pilafs decided to venture outdoors over the weekend and started with a dog-friendly hiking park. We saw several families enjoying the area, but it saddened us that some dog owners did NOT clean up their messes. On that note… fabulous place for a family friendly hike, but make sure your little ones keep anContinue reading “Dog Friendly, But Don’t Wear Flip-Flops!”
Family Friendly Hikes and Waterfall
There are so many places to hike in WNY, and this weekend the Pilafs + daughter headed out to find a couple family friendly adventures. The beautiful weather this weekend did not disappoint, and we were able to spend time in one park in the morning and a second in the afternoon. Akron Falls ParkContinue reading “Family Friendly Hikes and Waterfall”
Honkin’, Singin’ & Snoozin’
The Pilafs + daughter enjoyed a nice ride out to the Medina area over the weekend. JT was determined to get some “birding” in and hit up an Irish bar, so Dra grabbed her camera and they all flew out the door (like how I did that?) Iroquois National Refuge – Basom, NY Our firstContinue reading “Honkin’, Singin’ & Snoozin’”
And the Beat Goes On…
This weekend in March is known for fun, especially if you are a St. Patty’s Day fan. Food, drink and music! If you haven’t had the chance to try these two ideas we blogged about earlier in the year, here they are again. You could even do both in one day! #1 The Chandler StreetContinue reading “And the Beat Goes On…”
