Take a Walk on the Wild Side

Looking for a few places to stretch your legs without having to go too far from home? Finally the sun is shining in WNY! Grab your BFF and get moving!

Buffalo – Delaware Area

We’re assuming many of you have strolled (ran, jogged, biked, rollerbladed) the path around Delaware Park, especially since it has been open and blocked off to traffic over the last year. But there are other places close by to that area you can enjoy as well.

Park at the History Museum and head behind it. There is a lovely reflecting pool and Japanese Garden back there! In spring, the cherry blossoms are gorgeous! You can also extend this walk by heading up to the walkway that extends over the Scajaquada. David points the way to more opportunities to walk. You can enjoy Hoyt Lake and the Delaware Rose Garden.

And don’t forget the Buffalo Zoo! It is now open 10-4 every day. You still need to make reservations, however, but don’t let that discourage you. We have made reservations last minute while sitting in the parking lot. If the lot looks light, give it a try!

Billy Wilson Park – Williamsville

Looking for something in the burbs? Check out Billy Wilson Park in Williamsville. There are walking trails that stretch along Hopkins Road from each end of the park.

One section runs right through nature where you may spot a Canada Goose or turtle. Sections of the path are paved, and other parts are built for a safe, easy stroll through the area.

Just beyond the parking lot is a nice size playground for the littles.

Buffalo – Bird Island Pier (the Waterway)

Looking for a way to enjoy Lake Erie? How about the Buffalo lights at night? Head toward Rich Products and cross over to Unity Island, Broderick Park.

You can picnic, grill and walk the walkway under the Peace Bridge.

Have a fabulous week. Get moving, enjoy the weather and support local!
